The more I read into suspension components for Miatas the less idea I have of what parts I should buy.

Koni Yellows and some sort of spring?
I thought that was the standard.

I always get a running start when I put my clothes in the washer.

Not as bad as owning a parts bin vehicle, aka my bike.

Thanks...palpatine?

Yeah and then I got into different bump stops and shock mounts. Meanwhile I’m trying to keep this as low cost as possible without being cheap.

Feet first or head first?

Ahh, heh.
How about, custom Swift springs with some re-valved Koni yelows to match said spring? I’m sure you can find some aftermarket tophats.

Feet first, duh.

The Koni stage 1 package is what I’m thinking but I’m waiting to hear what level of FCM bump stops they use.

heard its good. i went with their basic coilover package so i can control ride height and more space for bigger wheels if i want that
![]() 05/18/2016 at 11:20 |

I think I’m just going to go with their Koni stage 1 package.
![]() 05/18/2016 at 11:26 |

Going with that is a safe bet. Besides, you can treat it as your “starter” suspension set.

The V-Maxx classic coil overs? I kinda forgot about them. How do you like them?
![]() 05/18/2016 at 11:45 |

But now the V-MAXX classics coil overs look appetizing.

great. stiffer but ride is still pretty good and im pretty low

The only advantage I see the Stage 1 package having is adjustable dampening. But since this is my first time buying suspension parts I’m a newb and that capability doesn’t seem necessary for me. Plus anything is going to feel better that my toasted stock suspension.

Trooper! Have you misplaced your under-barrel Laundry Launcher? KP duty for you!
![]() 05/18/2016 at 12:33 |

To hell with KP.

Honestly though, will you be able to maximize the capabilities of the coil overs? Will you adjust ride height? Get it corner-balanced? I honestly lean towards lower costs.
![]() 05/18/2016 at 13:14 |

Hence why I don’t think I need adjustable dampening.
![]() 05/18/2016 at 13:15 |

Yeah, springs and shocks is where it’s at. Once it settles, you’re good to go!

that might be a little harsh for Morgantown, WV roads.

nah you’ll be fine

yea adjustable is nice but really how often would you adjust it? maybe if you autocross or track it a lot.

I know I’ll rarely touch them. Ride quality/comfort is a big concern for me because of where I go to school and the FM guys are telling me the Tokicos will be the best in that regard.

FWIW, I’m very happy with the Flyin’ Miata stage 1.5 (Tokico shocks and FM springs & bumpstops).

My budget has suddenly increased so that’s exactly what I’m going with now.
